Spring Mission and Service Opportunities

Our Brothers Place

Thanks to Emilie Carr, Margaret Poteet, and Beth Wrigley, who with team leader Jeff Podraza served nearly 170 meals at Our Brother’s Place shelter on Sunday, March 23 — and would have served more had we not run out of Sloppy Joes!.  The men were grateful for the Sloppy Joes, veggies, fruit, and desserts, and the OBP kitchen staff was, as always, grateful for the donation and help.  This important part of PCCH’s outreach is greatly rewarding AND fun!  Thanks as always to Stu Hain for providing the canned and paper goods, and to all the PCCH members and friends who cooked a batch or two of Sloppy Joes.

Please consider joining a serving team on one of our upcoming dates- we serve every fourth Sunday and upcoming dates include April 27, May 25, and June 22.  Look for the sign-up sheet outside Widener Hall under the Communities bulletin board – no experience is necessary!  If you can’t serve in person, please consider donating two pounds (or more) of sloppy joes.  The recipe couldn’t be simpler: brown 2 pounds of ground beef or turkey, drain the fat, add one large can of Manwich sandwich sauce, and put in a ziplock plastic bag.  Bring the meat with you to church and put it in the blue bin in the church freezer.

Habitat for Humanity

PCCH has partnered with Habit for Humanity in the completion of four homes in Germantown area of Philadelphia.

There are three different ways to serve along side your church in this endeavor.  Working on site for the day, bring coffee and doughnuts to the church the morning of the work day to send our group off, and the final is to prepare lunch for the group and deliver to the work-site for lunch time.

The work day starts at 8:00 am and we leave from the church parking lot and will return around 4:00 pm to the church.  We will be taking the church van due to limited parking at the job site.

The work days are March 15th and the 29th, April 12th and the 17th, and May 10 and the 17th.  Additionally, the youth will be coordinating a RESTORE drive in conjunction with Habitat’s Thrift-store for building materials.

Anyone is welcome that is willing to help out and no prior experience is needed. Please contact Michael Sebright michael.sebright@gmail.com 267.303.7626.
